LANCASTER, S.C. — The new detention center in Lancaster County officially broke ground on Thursday, Dec. 5, off Pageland Highway, adjacent to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. The county anticipates completing the project in August 2026. “Breaking the ground on a new detention center marks a new beginning and a much-needed step forward here in Lancaster County,” Sheriff Barry Faile said.
